What we collect, why we collect it, and what we do with it.
PPV Australia is a property valuation firm operating across New South Wales, Victoria, Queensland, South Australia, Tasmania and the Australian Capital Territory. In this policy, "we" and "us" mean PPV Australia.
We handle personal information in accordance with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles.
When you request a quote or place an order, we collect:
Where someone other than you is arranging access to the property, we collect that person's name and phone number so we can contact them about the inspection.
When you pay, our payment provider collects your payment details. We do not see or store your card number.
During the valuation itself we may collect information about the property, including photographs, floor plans, title documents, lease details and building records.
We collect personal information so that we can:
If you do not provide the information we ask for, we may not be able to carry out the valuation.
We collect most information directly from you through our website, by email, or over the phone. Where a partner firm such as an accountant or broker refers work to us, we may receive your details from them.
We also collect information about the property from public sources, including title registries, planning authorities and sales records.
We disclose personal information only where it is necessary to carry out the valuation or where the law requires it. That may include:
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not disclose it for marketing purposes.
Some of our service providers store data outside Australia. Where that is the case, we take reasonable steps to ensure your information is handled consistently with the Australian Privacy Principles.
We store personal information in secure systems with access limited to those who need it to do their work. We take reasonable steps to protect it from misuse, loss, unauthorised access, modification and disclosure.
No system is completely secure. If a data breach occurs that is likely to result in serious harm, we will notify you and the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner as required under the Notifiable Data Breaches scheme.
We keep valuation records and the information supporting them for as long as we are required to, which reflects our professional obligations as valuers and the period during which a claim could be made. We destroy or de-identify personal information when we no longer need it and are no longer required to keep it.
You may ask us for a copy of the personal information we hold about you, and you may ask us to correct it if it is wrong. Email value@ppvaustralia.com.au and we will respond within a reasonable period.
We may need to verify your identity before we release information. In limited circumstances we may decline a request, and if we do we will explain why.
Our website uses cookies and similar technology to make the site work and to understand how it is used. You can block cookies in your browser settings, though some parts of the site may not work as expected.
Our quote form saves nothing until you submit it. Where our forms and booking tools are provided by third parties, those providers may set their own cookies and handle information under their own privacy policies.
If you believe we have mishandled your personal information, contact us first at value@ppvaustralia.com.au or on 02 7229 4900. We will investigate and respond.
If you are not satisfied with our response, you may complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au.
